Why We are Here

When I was growing up, we had a Grand Piano in our living room. Mother played, My sister followed in her footsteps and more. We lived near Tanglewood Music Festival and went to most of the concerts during the summers as well as places like The Potting Shed to hear Louis Armstrong, Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman and many others.

We all took piano lessons. I played the sax. In high school I joined the Glee Club, Choir and Double Quartet.. I like music!

I did not keep up with my music but one morning I woke up listing to my two sons playing electric bass and guitar. My next response was to get my violin and join in. I am not that good but had a lot of fun. I enjoy many of the other instruments such as the viola, cello, mandolin, balalaika, and others.

I have started taking lessons from David at String Thing Music and found that one of the most important requirements for enjoying music is to play in pitch. Of course you also need a reliable instrument to play in pitch.

With this in mind I have put together a selection of quality stringed instruments for the beginner and intermediate student as well a a few of orchestral quality. All of our violins, violas and cellos come with a free download copy of our Play In Pitch program found at www.playinpitch.com

Our current stock of instruments include Guitars, Electric Guitars, Electric Basses Violins, Violas, Cellos, Basses, Mandolins and Banjos. We also have Cases, Stands and Much more. If you can not find what you are looking for please let us know. You will find us at www.chemungmusic.com
